50mm piston, 40mm stroke, 78.8 actual CCs. The dual plug head is too thin and actually warped from heat. Supposedly developers are to improve on this soon.
As of now I have raised exhaust 2mm and widened both the exhaust and intake to match my header and carb manifold. I am using a scooter jog pipe expansion chamber exhaust system, a PZ20 carburator and run 11/36 gearing. I am unable to find a larger idle jet for the PZ20 so I'm forced to use stock. I upjetted the main jet to a 88.
This setup is outputting 10,800 rpms and 51mph. The piston is blocking 25% of the intake port at BDC. Not sure how manufacturer decided to do this. It could be reduced by decking the jug or as I would prefer create a case reed with the G2 reed.
I replaced the dual plug head with a CNC Smolik head which is superior for cooling and just looks bad ass. Besides the CDI was creating two weak sparks (ngkbh6s) instead of one strong spark when using single plug. Perhaps this could be enhanced using two CDI's but I doubt the magneto will generate enough current. I prefer using the TZ magnet (20% stronger) from Grubee, their TZ CDI, and their complimenting "Good Boy" magneto. It is made with better wire gauge and has more wraps. I switched all three first thing.
Currently running 40:1 ratio in oil, as always using either Lucas semi, Klotz, or my favorite, Redline Racing Smokeless 2 stroke oil. 87 octane is fine. Our engines do not create enough compression to utilize higher octane. This reminds me, out the box the piston was hitting the head. It smashed a plug. I have set the squish to .9 mm and had to use 2two jug gaskets as well as gasket maker to achieve this.
I found the crank is well balanced and produces little vibration. I did change the factory Chinese bearings (and clutch bearings) to US 6202zz bearings. German, Italian and Japanese are also an upgrade.
Finally I added a pullstart. In the past I have broken five of these. As of yet no one produces a durable version. But it helps me to do on the spot starts even inside my house as I make upgrades and need to check performance. I do not recommend the drill start technique as in the past I have stripped out either the magnet nut or worse, the shaft.
